Welcome to Darkskyau Astro About Me
Hi, thanks for taking the time to have a look at my site. I have only been dabbling in Astrophotography and telescopes for about 4 years now. Before this I have spent many years lying on an old banana lounge in the back yard with an old pair of binoculars gazing at a monochrome sky in total wonder.
I guess imaging was a somewhat natural progression for me once the digital age made photography affordable. I have used a wide variety of telescopes and cameras in my progression into digital imaging. I have settled on some nice equipment which makes the collection of data a pleasure. I now have a Takahashi FS 102 APO refractor, a Vixen VC200L, a Skywatcher ED80 refractor as my primary imaging instruments. As for cameras I use an unmodded Canon 40D, a QHY8 cooled CCD and as a guide camera I use a QHY5 (QGuider). This equipment gives me a fair scope of imaging opportunities.
I work as a Shift Manager for a large Electricity Generation business, looking after the operation of more than 100 generators in my home location and some remote sites. This keeps me pretty busy but I can always find time on the nice clear nights to adjourn to my little roll off roof observatory and disappear into the heavens.
